How To Make An Amazing Media Kit

how to make a blog media kit

What is a media kit you ask?

In layman’s terms, a media essentially is a CV for your website and all the work you have done on it.
It’s a great way for companies to get an idea of just what they will be getting if they reach out to work with you, IE your services, social media reach and of course just how much traffic stops by your blog for a browse.
Having a media kit is quite essential these days, especially if you’re hoping to turn your blog into a business. So no matter if you have 10,000 followers or ten, you want your blog’s media kit to be looking pretty suave.  so here are my top five tips to help you get started in just that!

Things To Include in your media kit –

About me
Services offered
Brand Work
Social Media handles and following
Google Analytics data (I do this monthly)
Email and telephone number

Being a Productive Blogger and Twitter Chat Times

Sign up to fohr

Fohr will basically do nearly all the above for you, WOO HOO! This simple little website creates your very own basic little press pack of all your analytics and social following etc etc. Its updated daily and best of all its free! If you’re not feeling too confident in taking creating your own media kit just yet, then this could be the answer for you. But if you are quite eager to create your own, this is still a great way to find all our analytics in one place.

Keep it fresh

There’s nothing worse than underselling yourself. If you don’t update your media kit regularly then that’s exactly what you could be doing. Keep on top of this, especially if you’ve had a sudden influx of followers or a surge in views.

Visibility is key
Make sure your kit is easily assessable. Opportunities can easily be missed if things aren’t laid out clearly. This really applies to everything on your website as well, there have been times when I can’t even find a bloggers social media handles let alone a media kit. Keep it blatantly visible, only good can come from it.
Make It You
If your media kit looks like its part of your blog IE your logo is on it, or your brand name then it’s going to look 100000 times more visually appealing and professional. The same way you’ve personalized everything else, don’t forget to put the personal touch on your kit as well.
Short And Sweet
Just like the same with a CV, if its any longer then a page or two, then whoever is reading it may possibly get bored. Keep it simple, smart and with an easy layout.  Nobody’s got time for a 5-page essay.
Except me.
