Skin. I’ve always been quite blessed in that department. I’ve never suffered massively from breakouts, and now being on the more mature side of 25 (GULP!) I participate in wrinkle watching and have LUCKILY been ok so far. Call it good skincare, call it good genes, call it what you will. I personally think a lot of how your skin looks have to do with genetics, but skincare can definitely help with those issues that haven’t been passed down by our beloveds.
My skincare use to consist of a certain three-step routine, (I can guarantee if you’re over the age of 25 you know the exact one!) but I like to think with age, came wisdom and So here’s my current skincare routine, with a focus on attempting to rid my pores of all the Baileys I was forced to drink over Christmas *ahem*.
Dermalogica is a safety net brand for me. Thier skincare always works well with my skin, and if I’m having (god forbid) some kind of skin meltdown, I know that if I approach one of their counters nine times outta ten they can turn the Beast back into the Beauty.
I’ve always used Dermalogicas Daily Foiliant, but for this dreary January, I’ve switched over to their new Daily Superfoliant. Just like its mother product, the powder turns into a paste upon contact with water, which in turns activates all the marvellous ingredients that help to slaw away dead skin and leave you looking fresh and radiant. With its anti-pollution technology (I don’t even know what that means, but I love it) this is the big guns of exfoliation, without the harshness of a scrub.
So this isn’t a toner as such, and by no means is it a “new” product, but this tried and tested favourite will replace any toner you have right now. La Roche-Posay Serozinc basically helps to balance your skin, which (especially after exfoliating) is essential after a cleanse. This is definitely one of those products that I believe in 100%. My skin has never been as clear when using this, nor those who I have personally recommend it to.
You can buy this cheap as chips off of Look Fantastic, and I wholeheartedly recommend you do!
The Oils And Treatments
I’ve been trialling Minnavi Moisturising fluid and facial oils for over two months now, and my gosh are they good! The theory behind these products is, that you buy the massive bottle of facial lotion (that will last you approx 50,000 years) and then you mix your chosen oils into the cream which act as a treatment. I’ve been mixing in a little bit of the Sensitive (Damask Rose Jojoba) and Vitality (Sunflower Sweet Almond) oil, morning and noon, and I love everything from the scent, the texture and to the results.
The fluid definitely brightens the skin, and the oils just add that extra touch of TLC. Everything our January skin needs.

The Night Cream
The newest addition to my routine, Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins™ Mineral-Enriched Renewal Cream (What a mouthful!). If you have dry skin, or sensitive skin, or temperamental skin, or just skin, then prepare for this to become your crutch. If I don’t use this at nighttime, I can almost hear my pores screaming at me. The cream is so rich and full of moisture, that even after one (3) too many wines, my skin still looks like I’ve been on a month-long detox.
After the party season, I tend to try and give my skin a bit of a break from all the heavy makeup, but at a time when most of us need makeup the most, I can definitely not go Au Naturel. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser gives just the right amount of coverage, whilst still not being too heavy on your skin. With an SPF of 35, and lots of moisturising properties, this product has seen my skin through many a dark, dank January, and I’m sure many more to come.
I’m currently giving my insides a big boost with WHC Omega tablets. Now, these are definitely not marketed at skin health, but these supplements contain omega-3 fish oil, which does not only boost benefits such as healthy eyes and brain function. But, has fantastic skincare benefits such as helping with hormonal breakouts, and skincare issues such as psoriasis.
These supplements are also packed full of B vitamins, folic acid, and Biotin, which helps to keep the memory and learning function of the brain healthy, cause its all very well us making sure we look and feel great on the outside, if our insides aren’t as looked after, then your fighting a losing battle.
